Sacrificium's Pillars

What you’re holding right now, or looking at, are the rules for a miniature wargame: SACRIFICIUM. Whether you’re a veteran of the wargames’ world, or total newbies, these few pages will allow you to play with any model you fell in love with, on any battlefield you desire, both painted and modeled as you want.

SACRIFICIUM started with three big desires, which later became its three fundamental pillars.

The first pillar is to have a game not bound to any kind of randomness. Too many times, playing some wargame, we ended up seeing incredible strategies and elaborate plans ruined by some stupid throws of a die. We decided to look back to the King of all the tabletop games, which is also the first wargame ever: Chess.
Someone may think we’re wrong, but it’s a game about a battle between two opposite armies, where each model has its role, strengths and weaknesses. But, with the exception of the initiative and the little asymmetry in the deployment, the two rivals have the same initial setting. There is no chance involved, and the elements that lead to victory are concentration and intelligence, not luck.
Therefore, we created a game that does not involve any randomness.

The second pillar is to have a game that would allow us to use any miniature that we had or desired. The wargames on sale are many, and we all often fall in love with models that we are not allowed to play, because of different factions or even other games. Therefore, instead of defining the models based on their aspect, we defined them based on their role. A player may want to use that big orc with the giant battle axe for his Avenger.  Another can’t wait to use the miniature of that turtleman shaman with sad eyes.
Therefore, we created a game that allows the use of any miniature.
The third pillar is to keep what we love most about the wargames we loved for so long and that taught us so much: the personalization and choice of the armies. Unlike Chess, where the two players are forced to battle with two identical armies, we wanted to keep the freedom to choose your own army, choose the roles and what powers to deploy.
Therefore, we created a game that allows you to create your own army.

We worked on it for a long time, and this is the result.
